Accommodate larger aircraft at existing airport infrastructure
|
While commercial aircraft are becoming wider and longer, airport operators struggle for accommodating them at their existing facilities. Indeed, they were often initially designed for the previous generations of airliners (e.g. Boeing 747-100). Join us for an update on the newest aircraft types and their challenges, on the applicable regulatory requirements, and on the flexibility offered by the standards and regulations.
Gaël Le Bris will explain through case studies how we can fit modern, large aircraft (e.g. A380, 777-9) at airport infrastructure initially designed for smaller, older airliners (e.g. 747-100) – with the CAD software solution AviPLAN and the unique WSP expertise. The focus will be on aircraft parking stands and their complex environment.
Gaël Le Bris, C.M. is a Senior Aviation Planner with WSP. He is an aviation engineer with more than 8 years of experience. Prior joining WSP, he was the Airside Development Manager at a large hub airport where he led major development and aircraft/airport compatibility projects. Today, Gaël helps airports of all sizes to address the challenges they face in planning and design, develop adequate capacity, and safely accommodate the next generations of aircraft.
