a case study on social distancing measures
and their impact on terminal operations
This webinar will center its focus on the impacts of the social distancing measures taken on a real case study – Bristol Airport. Bristol Airport, is a key regional airport in the southwest of the United Kingdom that processed ca. 9 million passengers in 2019. Similarly to many other airports around the globe since resuming operations after COVID-19, they have been implementing a series of new measures to enable a safe and efficient passenger journey, including increased separation between passengers and the installation of Perspex partitions among others. In this analysis conducted by EBEA Consulting, the benefits of these measures will be reviewed, as well as their limitations.
This study will demonstrate the breaking points on each process along the passenger journey, relative to the levels of demand observed during pre-COVID operation. Furthermore, EBEA Consulting’s analysis builds on Haaga-Helia University’s research on relevant measures applied by other airports or other transportation industries, to understand the benefits of each one in this particular scenario. The benefits will be measured against the recommended IATA Optimum Levels of Service, focusing on queue times and the impacts of increased spacing requirements per passenger on the design of key operational areas
